Your skepticism about half these use cases matches mine, a lot of them save twenty minutes at best. The one that actually changed my mind was the boring email and calendar category you rated low. I started forwarding the insurance and medical mail I'd normally never read, and instead of just filing it, it cross-checked a hospital bill against what my plan had already paid and caught them overcharging my wife about 850 bucks I'd already handed over. First time one of these crossed from neat into found me real money. Did any of the ones you tried actually clear that bar, or were they all in the time-saved bucket?

This is the most honest roundup I've seen of the current agent moment. The Scott Alexander quote about feeling lazy if you haven't tasked AI while playing with Magna-Tiles perfectly captures the vibe.

I'm guilty of the Mac Mini purchase too - though I run my agent (Wiz) on my main machine. Your review of use cases matches my experience: summarizing content is useful but not transformative, analyze/visualize is genuinely awesome, and research agents are where the real magic is.

Your honesty about Lenny's podcast summary being 'generic' rather than insightful is refreshing. AI summaries tend to regress toward the most common patterns.

I documented my full agent setup here: https://thoughts.jock.pl/p/wiz-personal-ai-agent-claude-code-2026

The Clawd + Claude Code combo is interesting. I've been thinking about how to keep these agent workflows consistent when you're handing off between different systems.

Something that's helped: treating CLAUDE.md as the source of truth for how any agent should behave in your repo. Whether it's Claude Code or something like Clawd, they all benefit from the same ground rules. I wrote up what great CLAUDE.md files have in common based on real examples: https://reading.sh/what-great-claude-md-files-have-in-common-db482172ad2c?sk=329b70a13aa55422f1d057116b9ef4ee
