For the first time, millennials were fooled en-masse by AI generated video
The bunnies jumping on the trampoline were AI, so was the bear.
All of the videos below have gotten millions of views, and hundreds of thousands of likes. These got A LOT of engagement.
When I saw the video, I thought it was cute and funny. Bunnies on a Trampoline. Why not? Bunnies like jumping, right? I didn’t look for any signs of AI (there are some like the disappearing bunny at the far end of the trampoline. Also how did they get up there?). The physics are great. It looks real.
Then there was a bear:
I remember thinking the way the trampoline broke was a bit strange, but I didn’t flag it as AI. The physic are getting really good, and AI Video is starting to really break through.
This woman decided to go and touch grass, and I understand:
Millennials are the only generation ever to exist who understands computers.
We were online with dial-up internet. We invented the meme. All of internet culture started with us. And yet, we were fooled. We shared and liked the bunny video en-masse. I got it sent to me. I forwarded it. Everyone saw it. Initially, the comments were not screaming AI (now they are).
It is a watershed moment.
